Missio Meet Up - Connect Night // Sat. Apr. 28

Meet Ups provide opportunities for the Missio Community to build authentic relationships so that we can be disciples who make disciples.

  • WHY: As disciples, we are called into healthy community and relationships and growing them takes time and intentionality. Sometimes parents need intentional uninterrupted times to connect with others. The same is true for kids. Kids need a place where they can be kids together and build friendships. Connect Night provides kids, parents and adults each an intentional space to connect.
  • WHAT: Invite other adults and/or parents at Missio that you don't know well to share a meal. Use the uninterrupted time to be intentional and share one another stories.
  • WHEN: April 28th; 5:00pm - 8:00pm
  • CHILD CARE: The 72 MC is providing child care at Riversgate Church (7634 SW Capital Highway, Portland, OR 97219).

Please RSVP for childcare. Email Walt: walt.wimmer@gmail.com or sign up at the Missio Kids check in table.

Compassion SW Clinic // Sat. May 19

Saturday, May 19, 8:00AM – 3:00PM
WHERE: Wilson High School, 1151 SW Vermont, Portland, OR 97219

Missio will be joining hands and resources with other Southwest Portland churches to provide free medical and dental services to families and individuals who are uninsured or under-insured.  While the clinic services are free to guests, it costs about $32 per person to provide the services and make the clinic happen.

Missio's goal is to sponsor 100 guests on the day of the clinic. We are encouraging each individual or family to show love & compassion for at least one neighbor by giving $32. You can give online HERE or bring a check/cash on Sunday.

We are also encouraging Missio to participate through:

Serving: Sign up here to be part of sharing the compassionate love of Jesus with our neighbors in need. Everyone can serve in some way! Beyond medical, vision, and dental care, there will also be a prayer team, food team, community services, a resource fair, and other activities to meet the needs of our neighbors.

Praying: Please take time to intentionally pray for the Compassion SW Clinic to be a place where people encounter the love and healing of Jesus as we come together to serve as the greater Body of Christ in our neighborhood. Pray for people’s physical, spiritual, and emotional needs to be met with the love of Jesus.

100 Days with Jesus // Jan. 7

Screen Shot 2017-12-27 at 3.49.02 PM.png

Starting Jan. 7, Missio will be starting a journey of 100 days with Jesus. We believe Jesus loves us and wants to know us, and has created us to journey through life in relationship with him and others. The book "100 Days with Jesus" will help us to know Jesus more fully as we read his Scripture, reflect on who he is, and share with one another as we meet him along the way. Books will be available at Missio starting Sunday, Jan. 7.

As we journey together, share what you’re hearing with others! God’s words to you can be an encouragement to those around you, so talk with your family, friends, and Missional Community about what you’re learning and how the challenge of daily reading and reflecting is going. Check out our 100 Days with Jesus Facebook group to share your thoughts and be encouraged by how others are hearing from Him.

Serving Opportunities at Missio

A fantastic way to get plugged into the Missio Community is to serve! Here are a few ways to share your giftings, talents and time:

Missio Kids exists to partner with parents in discipling their children toward knowing Jesus and making Him fully known in the world. We have four different classes where we serve kids ages birth through 5th grade and volunteers serve once a month on a regular rotation. As a weekly team, we pray together before each Expression, work together to set up and tear down all our classrooms, and get to know one another as we serve kids and parents each month.
Current needs:
- 4 2s & 3s Volunteers
- 4 Pre-K/Kindergarten Teacher’s Assistants
- 4 Elementary Teacher’s Assistants
- 2 Check-in Volunteers

The vision of our worship ministry is to become authentic worshipers of Jesus in our every day lives and allow that identity to shape our communal worship gatherings. We serve on Sundays by leading worship through song, prayer, and readings from the stage. We also serve by performing behind the scenes tasks, such as running sound, slides, and organizing the different people serving on a given Sunday.
Current needs:
- Worship team (both vocalists and instrumentalists)
- Media
- Sound

The vision of the Missio Setup & Breakdown Team is to create a space where people can enter with minimal distractions and engage worship fully. We serve on Sundays by transforming the gym and other classrooms into spaces of worship as well as setting the rooms back in order so that the school can continue the work of educating and caring for the community.
Current Needs: 4-6 Volunteers

Greeters are some of the first people guests and the Missio family see and interact with at a Sunday Expression. We serve by greeting people as they come through the door, answering questions they may have about Missio, introducing and connecting people to one another, and helping people navigate Sunday Expressions.
Current Needs: 3 Greeters
