Family Covenant Class // Various Dates

Family Covenant is the relationship between Missio and its members in which each seeks to honor God and love each other, primarily concerned with how each can give to the relationship rather than how each will benefit. Family Covenant is an opportunity to invest in Missio and be invested in by Missio’s leadership.

Missio will be offering Family Covenant classes over the next four months. We are asking that everyone attend one of three Sunday sessions.

Location: West Hills Covenant Church (Fellowship Hall)
Time: 2pm-5pm
Childcare will be provided; please indicate your need when you register.

Be the Bridge Cohort // Mar. 31 - Jun. 9

Latasha Morrison, founder of 'Be the Bridge', believes, "the gospel is justice come to life”.

As a church we desire to learn and grow in how we can better express the justice of the gospel of Jesus Christ in our homes, neighborhoods, church, city, and beyond. Be the Bridge exists to do 3 things:

- INSPIRE the church to have a distinctive and transformative response to racial division, as it calls the Church to be present and intentional towards racial reconciliation.
- EQUIP bridge builders towards fostering and developing vision, skills and heart for racial unity.
- BUILD partnerships with existing organizations who have a heart for diversity, racial justice, restoration and reconciliation.

We invite you to come join us in this process of learning, growing, and living more fully the gospel of reconciliation and justice that Jesus has entrusted to us. For more information, click here.

Sundays, March 31 - June 9 from 6:30-8:30pm (Not meeting on 4/21)

SW Hope 5K // Sat. Apr. 6

Every spring, multiple Southwest Portland Faith Organizations and Community Partners join hands to meet the need of hunger specifically, by working to supply Neighborhood House’s food pantry, the largest food pantry west of the Willamette.

The 2018 SW Hope 5K raised a total of $20,278 - the equivalent of 81,112 pounds of food!

We invite you to run with us in our fourth annual SW Hope Feed the Hungry 5K on Sat. April 6, 2019 at 9:00am at Gabriel Park because each $1 we raise together far outweighs it’s worth in canned goods individually.  If we run together, our neighbors here in SW Portland won’t have to experience the insecurity of not knowing where their next meal is coming from.

Cost (all ages welcome - includes t-shirt!):
Jan 1 - Jan 31 = $30/person
Feb 1-April 5 = $35/person
Race Day (Apr 6) = $40/person

Kids Fun Run Pricing (age 10 and younger - includes t-shirt!):
Up until Race Day = $10/child
Race Day = $15/child

T-shirt deadline: Register by Wednesday, March 13, 2019

Where: Gabriel Park - SW Vermont and SW 45th Ave, Portland, OR 97219

We think its fitting to run in the community we are seeking to nourish. Join your community for a sprint/jog/moseying walk through the woodsy forest of Gabriel Park, passing scenic views, baseball fields, and tennis courts – an invitation to play afterwards!

Serving Opportunities at Missio

A fantastic way to get plugged into the Missio Community is to serve! Here are a few ways to share your giftings, talents and time:

Missio Kids exists to partner with parents in discipling their children toward knowing Jesus and making Him fully known in the world. We have four different classes where we serve kids ages birth through 5th grade and volunteers serve once a month on a regular rotation. As a weekly team, we pray together before each Expression, work together to set up and tear down all our classrooms, and get to know one another as we serve kids and parents each month.
Current needs:
- 4 2s & 3s Volunteers
- 4 Pre-K/Kindergarten Teacher’s Assistants
- 4 Elementary Teacher’s Assistants
- 2 Check-in Volunteers
Contact: // (503) 961-3456

The vision of our worship ministry is to become authentic worshipers of Jesus in our every day lives and allow that identity to shape our communal worship gatherings. We serve on Sundays by leading worship through song, prayer, and readings from the stage. We also serve by performing behind the scenes tasks, such as running sound, slides, and organizing the different people serving on a given Sunday.
Current needs:
- Worship team (both vocalists and instrumentalists)
- Media
- Sound

The vision of the Missio Setup & Breakdown Team is to create a space where people can enter with minimal distractions and engage worship fully. We serve on Sundays by transforming the gym and other classrooms into spaces of worship as well as setting the rooms back in order so that the school can continue the work of educating and caring for the community.
Current Needs: 4-6 Volunteers

Greeters are some of the first people guests and the Missio family see and interact with at a Sunday Expression. We serve by greeting people as they come through the door, answering questions they may have about Missio, introducing and connecting people to one another, and helping people navigate Sunday Expressions.
Current Needs: 3 Greeters
